The Speaker Repair Experts
Audiomark repair a wide range of audio speakers from high end audiophile to automotive. The quality of our repairs reflects a long time passion for audio and an awareness of the factors that can affect or compromise speaker performance. We also set-up, troubleshoot and repair turntables.
Speaker problems fall into three main catagogies:
- Surround failure or deterioration. The surround is the flexible ring between the cone and the frame of the drive unit. Over time, and especially if exposed to sunlight, the foam breaks down and eventually crumbles. When this happens the speaker no longer functions properly, and the surrounds must be replaced.
Note: using speakers with decayed surrounds may damage the voice coil! - Voice Coil faults: Typical problems with speaker drive units that have been abused or failed due to age usually involve the voice coil, which is the "engine" of a drive unit. The voice coil may be overheated, causing it to go open–circuit or rub on the pole-piece. Sometimes the joint between the voice coil and the cone can fail.
- Crossover upgrades: Crossover circuits and components can fail over time.
It is an unfortunate reality that in a fiercely competitive market, loudspeaker manufacturers, particularly those at the high-volume end, put the money where it can be seen, i.e the cabinet finish or the drive units.
Very often, the parts hidden around the back and inside are made as cheaply as possible. We can repair or upgrade crossovers, internal wiring and connectors with competitively priced high performance products.
We offer competitive high quality repairs and upgrades for all the above problems.
